Rural areas suffer severe technology deficit. While there are other serious shortages, power, water and housing are the main focus for us here at BKF. We look at technology that can improve the lives of the disadvantaged in rural communities while respecting their environment. Rural population is not composed of subhuman beings. Their needs and aspirations are similar to those living in urban areas. Most of the technological development that takes place in rural areas is carried out with an aim to keep it simple so that the devices can easily be maintained by the rural population themselves. Technological development has always been the outcome of demand.
Rural technological development and propagation should be a consortium project. The members of such consortia will include grassroots NGOs, research institutes, government and industries. BKF has chosen to play a major role especially in the provision of shelter. If you would like to offer support for any of our ”technology for rural development” projects, please contact us.
